For the second consecutive season, the Hanover Central Lady Wildcats are headed back to the IHSAA Class 3A State Finals! It was a memorable and eventful weekend for the Wildcats as they battled through a long day of softball, weather delays, and an extra trip to Logansport before ultimately securing the IHSAA Class 3A Semi-State Championship. Hanover Central opened Saturday's semi-state action with a victory over Logansport in the semifinal round, earning a spot in the championship game against East Noble. The Lady Wildcats came out strong in the title game, building a commanding 7-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Just three outs away from another state finals appearance, severe weather moved into the area, forcing officials to suspend play and postpone the remainder of the game. With the championship still unfinished, the Lady Wildcats returned to Logansport on Monday morning to complete the final inning. The wait was much longer than the finish itself. In just 4 minutes and 56 seconds, Hanover Central recorded the final three outs, securing the victory over East Noble and officially claiming the 2026 IHSAA Class 3A Semi-State Championship. The win sends the Lady Wildcats back to the state finals for the second year in a row and continues an incredible postseason run for the program. Hanover Central will now face New Palestine in the 2026 IHSAA Class 3A State Championship Game on Friday, June 12, at Purdue University's Softball Field.
